The David L. Rice Library supports the mission of the University of Southern Indiana by assisting the instruction and research efforts of the university's students and faculty through the provision of appropriate collection and services. Among the library's most important goals is to create a setting where users feel free to pursue research and study without compromising their privacy or safety.
All currently enrolled USI students, currently employed university faculty and staff, retired faculty, and CAP faculty and students (with some exceptions) may request items through Interlibrary Loan. Students and staff with overdue materials or library fines in excess of $5.00 will not be able to use Interlibrary Loan until fines/overdues are cleared.

Users with interlibrary loan materials more than three weeks overdue will be blocked from using Interlibrary Loan and checking out Rice Library materials until the item(s) are returned and/or fees cleared. All late fees and/or replacement costs are determined by the lending library and are applied to the user’s Banner account. If the fees are not paid, the user will lose library privileges and may have their Banner account blocked.
Users that are chronically overdue may be subjected to library use only restrictions.
