Rice Library provides access to a variety of technology devices to support teaching and learning at USI. Supplies may be limited on some devices, so students, faculty and staff are encouraged to plan ahead as much as possible. All users are expected to comply with campus and library technology policies when using library resources.
Rice Library provides PC and Mac desktop computers for USI affiliates and guests. They are currently only available by appointment.
Desktop PC computers in Rice Libraryhave the following software installed:
A black-and-white printer, a color printer, and a copier are available on the first floor of Rice Library during the open building hours. A black-and-white printer is also available on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.
Cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer are available at sanitation stations in the central stairway core. Face coverings are welcome but not required in University buildings.
USI students, faculty, and staff are strongly encouraged to send their print jobs to the Uniprint System from their personal devices prior to arriving at Rice Library.
Users that have not sent their print jobs to the Uniprint System ahead of arrival will be directed to a standing computer to bring up their document(s) and send to the printer. Users should not use this time or access to create documents or search. Access to computers for this type of work is available through the Computer and Study Room Access. After users have sent their documents to the system, they can then proceed to the printer or waiting line.
