Course Reserves

Course reserves are reading or viewing items selected by instructors to use with a course they are teaching. Items can be library books, DVDs, personal copies, or an electronic link to an article in one of the library's subscription databases.

Each physical item is assigned its own checkout length, chosen by the instructor placing the reserve. Choices are:

  • 2 hour room reserve
  • 24 hour reserve
  • 3 day reserve
  • 1 week reserve

All electronic links are password protected and restricted to students who are enrolled in the course.

Instructors interested in creating a course reserve should complete this online request form Reserve request.

Based on current research, physical library materials will be disinfected and/or quarantined to minimize the spread of coronavirus from shared materials. Because course reserves are designed to make items available to many students in a short span of time, the course reserve policies for Fall 2020 are modified so that only DVDs (which can be directly disinfected without damage) will be on Course Reserve. Please visit our Course Reserves page for more details on services and options for Fall 2020.
