During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rice Library will be offering updated services to facilitate the safety and health of our users and library workers. A major part of these updates include appointment only access to study space and technology in the library, physical collection access through only request and scheduled pickup, and online research assistance.
Study rooms and carrels will be available Fall 2020 for individual study only by appointment. You can select the start time you wish for your reservation and book up to 3 hours at once by changing the end time in the dropdown. At your start time, please check-in at the Library Services Desk to confirm your appointment upon entry. Please have your emailed confirmation ready.
For the health and safety of the USI community, all visitors will be required to observe campus safety requirements, including the wearing of masks in all public spaces. Users who make appointments for private individual rooms or carrels may remove their masks in the room, but all other spaces and travel between spaces require wearing a mask.
Study space and computer access on the open floors in Rice Library will be available by appointment only during Fall 2020. Use the links below to reserve your spot. Open study seats and computers are typically available in 2 hours slots, though you are welcome to arrive late and leave early as needed. You can also reserve back-to-back slots for longer study and research needs.

Access to the Rice Library collection stacks are closed, but items held in the library collections or borrowed through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) will be available for checkout through walk-in and curbside pickup. Users must make an appointment to pick-up items from the library collections and/or ILL.
USI faculty and staff still have option to request and receive items through CampusExpress. In addition to the automated request for ILL and General Collection items in fUSIon, faculty and staff can use the walk-in and curbside pickup form to request media and other items be delivered to their campus office. Please note that you would prefer CampusExpress delivery on the Questions and Comment field on the request form.
Access to the Archives and Special Collections will only be by appointment, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
Meet with a Librarian online via Teams. No need to come into the Rice Library building - you can access Teams online from anywhere with an Internet connection or through your phone.
