Linking to the Catalog

Searches

The new library catalog allows for direct linking to resources and specific searches or results lists. To link to results lists or specific items, simply copy and paste the URL generated in your browser's address bar.

For example, the URL circled in the image below will consistently return a list of online items that fit the keyword search "potato AND history."

When to Use the Catalog

  • If you're looking for books, ebooks, DVDs, licensed streaming video, or microform
  • To request book pickup
  • To access your library account (loans, fines, etc.)
  • To access course reserves

When to Use fUSIon

  • If you're starting out your research and don't have a specific source type in mind
  • To search across catalog content (e.g. books/ebooks) as well as scholarly articles, magazines, or newspapers

Linking to Searches

  • Select the Share button that appears in the upper right corner of the results list.
  • Copy and paste the URL permalink that appears toward the bottom of the drop-down menu

Linking to Specific Resource Records

  • Select the Permalink option from the Tools menu on the right side of a resource page.
  • Copy and paste the permalink URL that appears above the resource title.
