Rice Library promotes Open Education Resources (OER) or also known as Affordable Learning Textbooks that USI students can use the classroom. Two OER textbooks are available in SOAR (Scholarly Open Access Repository):

What is SOAR?

Benefits of SOAR at USI include:

  • Stability: Your work. once uploaded in SOAR, has a persistent URL.
  • Connections: People interested in your research, such as other academic researchers, students, or publishers, can find out about your scholarship. SOAR is indexed in Google Scholar, Google, and other internet search engines.

SOAR (Scholarly Open Access Repository) is a digital collection of scholarship, research, and creative works produced by faculty, students, staff, and other members of the USI community. SOAR at USI is administered by Rice Library in cooperation with various departments and academic units of the University.

USI Dissertation & Thesis Templates

Rice Library has developed Word templates to enhance the accessibility and standardizations of dissertations and theses to aid in the production of a high-quality, highly accessible product for submission to SOAR at USI. These templates have been approved by Graduate Studies and the programs which require a dissertation or thesis. If you are unsure which citation style is appropriate for your thesis, please speak with your advisor.
