The Green Book

The U.S. House Ways and Means Committee has budgetary oversight for many social programs. It periodically publishes a report on programs and expenditures. The most recent is from 2012. This document gives program descriptions and historical data on a wide variety of social and economic topics, including Social Security, child welfare, child support, health insurance, Medicare, unemployment, TANF and SNAP, and others.
