What Should I do to Make Sure My Documents are Accessible?

Accessible documents are easier to understand and read for all your users. 

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) checklist by WebAIM (Web Accessibility in Mind), See the official Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for more details

  • Perceivable "Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive" (WCAG 2.0 Standard) Including text alternates, adaptability, and distinguishable. 
  • Operable "User interface components and navigation must be operable" (WCAG 2.0 Standard) including keyboard navigable, enough time, seizures, and navigable.
  • Understandable "Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable" (WCAG 2.0 Standard) including readable, predictable, and input assistance.
  • Robust "Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies" (WCAG 2.0 Standard) including compatibly

Accessible documents should include:

  • Text descriptions of images or figures
  • Captions for audio or videos
  • Heading paragraph styles to increase readability and improve accessibility for screen readers
